How to buy at Krakowski Dom Aukcyjny

Art auction catalog

Paintings for sale at the art auctions can be viewed on our website. For some auctions we issue a printed catalog too. We invite you to visit the pre-auction exhibitions of items at our art gallery: Krakowski Dom Aukcyjny® at 14 Starowiślna Street in Krakow.

How to buy at an art auction?

In our auctions you can bid in several ways:

1. in person during the auction (does not apply to auctions without public participation, which are occasionally organised by our auction house)

2. by placing a bidding order with a limit of hammer price (our team will bid on your behalf during the auction)

3. by phone call during the auction (a phone bid is equivalent to placing an order at the starting price of item)

4. through online platforms and

All submissions of bidding are valid only after verification and confirmation of acceptance.


In case of  personally bidding, after registering as a participant, our employee will assign you a paddle with a number that entitles you to participate in the auction. The bidding is conducted by raising the paddle during the art auction.

Bid increments at the auction:

up to 2000 PLN - 100 PLN
2000-5000 PLN - 200 PLN
5000-10000 PLN - 500 PLN
10000-50000 PLN - 1000 PLN
50000-100000 PLN - 2000 PLN
100000-200000 PLN - 5000 PLN
over 200000 PLN - 10000 PLN

Transaction and payment

Payment for the items auctioned off must be made within 10 days of the end of the auction.
We accept cash payments (up to 40000 PLN; applies to natural persons), card payments and bank transfers.

The total amount to be paid is the auctioned hammer price plus 20% auction fee and a droit de suite fee (only for designated objects, usually 5%).

Upon request, we will issue a VAT charged on your margin only invoice (Margin Scheme - Works of Art).

Receiving auctioned items

The release of items takes place when full payment is credited.

We can deliver artworks with our own transport to Warsaw (once a month) [check the date of the next visit here].

The possibilities and costs of courier delivery are established individually for each item.

In fulfilling the statutory obligation regarding the protection of antiques - some objects with a value of more than PLN 10000 require inclusion in the register with the buyer's data.

For each artwork we attach a certificate with a hologram and dry seal.
